Accomplished Alumni Welcome 2013 Scholar Graduates

At Posse Boston’s annual Power of 10 event in October 2013, alumni Beza Ayalew, Sharhea Wade, Alwyn McLeod and Ronald Germán welcomed the 2013 graduates to the alumni community before presenting the Power of 10 award to Boston’s retiring five-term mayor, the Honorable Thomas M. Menino. The professional accomplishments of these four alumni demonstrate the ways in which alumni are making an impact on the community and the depth of experience in the Posse Alumni Network.

After graduating from Denison University in 2009, Beza Ayalew won a Fulbright Scholarship to study global health at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. Currently working at the Child, Adolescent and Family Health Bureau of the Boston Public Health Commission, Beza recently earned a Master of Public Health from Boston University with a focus on maternal and child health.

A 2010 graduate of Bryn Mawr College, Sharhea Wade works at State Street Corporation as a municipal bond credit analyst, where she helps manage a portfolio of $6.5 billion in municipal bonds. She is also currently pursuing an M.B.A. at Boston University. Last year, Sharhea was the recipient of the Commitment to Posse Award, which is given to a leader in the Posse alumni community.

Alwyn McLeod, a 2011 graduate of Centre College, is the Roxbury neighborhood coordinator in the Office of Neighborhood Services at City Hall. He facilitates the delivery of city services and resources to Roxbury, collaborating with city departments and serving as a primary contact for constituents to communicate with the Mayor's Office.

Ron Germán graduated from Hamilton College in 2013 with a degree in Hispanic studies and economics. He currently works as a senior associate in State Street Corporation’s Professional Development Program, an extremely selective rotational program designed to identify and develop the company’s future leaders.
