Deloitte Hosts Posse Chicago Internship Celebration

Summer 2013 | Chicago

On August 1, Posse Chicago held its annual Internship Celebration, which was generously sponsored by Deloitte, a leading financial services firm. Posse Scholars, their internship supervisors, and members of the Posse Chicago Advisory Board and Leadership Council gathered to celebrate the summer’s successful career-building experiences.

A committed Career Program partner, Deloitte provides summer internships to Scholars and has hired several Posse alumni from across the country, including Posse Chicago alumnus Jeyson Florez. In addition, for the past two years Posse Chicago has participated in Deloitte’s annual Impact Day, a company-wide day of service where employees volunteer with community-based programs.

“Posse’s partnership with Deloitte is growing nationally as well as in Chicago,” says Miles Warren, a Posse Chicago Career Program manager since 2011. “We’re excited to have them as a host for this event and as a Career Program partner.”

This year’s Internship Celebration included a keynote address by Sandy Tran, a DePauw University junior, who interned at Jones Lang LaSalle, a professional services and investment management company specializing in real estate.

“I’ve never imagined myself successfully working in a corporate environment because I was too intimidated. I do not have family members or friends who work in corporate offices or Fortune 500 companies," says Sandy. “With encouragement from Posse’s Career Program managers, I can envision myself in the same shoes as the professionals I am networking with now.”

Posse Chicago is grateful to all of its Career Program partners for providing Scholars with meaningful career development experiences. This support is critical in preparing Scholars to be come leaders in the workforce after college.
