Denison Alumnus Earns MBA, Joins Kraft Foods

Andy Nguyen, a Denison University alumnus, recently accepted an associate brand manager position at Kraft Foods following the completion of his MBA at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Andy cites his Posse experience as a significant influence on his academic and career path.

“I vividly remember getting the call that I won the Posse Scholarship,” says Andy. “My mother decided we should celebrate by going out to a fancy restaurant—probably the first time we had ever done so.”

Raised in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood by his mother, a refugee from Vietnam, Andy attended Lincoln Park High School and was part of their International Baccalaureate program. At Denison, he excelled academically and was heavily involved in student government, Delta Chi Fraternity and a work-study program. He was one of a very select group of seniors to be selected for the university’s Distinguished Leadership Award.

As a sophomore, with the assistance of the Posse Career Program, Andy landed an internship at Goldman Sachs’ Chicago office. This first exposure to the business world inspired him to add economics as a second major. Upon graduating, he joined Lehman Brothers as a financial analyst and continued at Neuberger Berman, which acquired Lehman post-bankruptcy, before enrolling in business school with the goal of transitioning from finance to marketing.

“The Posse network has been incredibly supportive,” says Andy. “I’m so grateful for the guidance and mentorship of board members and supporters including Peggi Sturm, Richard Metzler, Gil de las Alas and Bob Steiner.”

Andy was elected as the first co-chair of the Posse National Alumni Advisory Council in Chicago and remains an active contributor.

“Posse is a part of who I am,” says Andy. “I look forward to investing my time and to giving back as much as I can.”
