DePauw Alumna Takes Seat on Chicago Advisory Board

Winter 2014 | Chicago

Watchen Nyanue, a DePauw University alumna, returned home to Chicago after several years in New York City and joined the Posse Chicago Advisory Board as the Posse National Alumni Advisory Council (PNAAC) representative.

“I’m invested in Posse,” she says. “It is a remarkable thing that will always be a part of my life and I’ll give back in every way I can for as long as possible.”

Watchen cites her Posse as the reason for her heavy involvement on campus as an undergraduate. In addition to her work for the Association of African American Students, Delta Sigma Theta sorority and DePauw’s student-run television station, Watchen took advantage of the Posse Career Program, completing eight internships during her undergraduate career.

Since her 2005 graduation, Watchen has worked for Yahoo!, Hearst Digital and Comedy Central, where she was mentored by Michele Ganeless, the president of Comedy Central and a member of Posse’s national board of directors. Currently, Watchen is an account executive for Dedicated Media, a leading digital media services provider in Chicago.

Reconnecting with her hometown, Watchen joined the associate board of Link Unlimited, an organization that provides educational services and mentoring to economically disadvantaged African American youth. She also founded the Chicago Action Brunch initiative that creates a platform for a small group of individuals to organize a project that helps to solve an issue facing Chicago.
