Engineering Scholar's Internship Fulfills Childhood Dream
Posse Houston’s Texas A&M University Scholar Ayomide (Ayo) Fatoye describes his internship as a Software Engineer at renowned game development company Electronic Arts as a “dream come true.” This summer, Ayo wrote code for the popular video game Sims 4.
His work directly contributes to the tools that artists, animators, designers, and game developers use to bring the game’s characters, animations, and neighborhoods to life. As an intern at Electronic Arts, Ayo demonstrated his prowess by meticulously debugging, developing new features, and managing the tools that power Sims 4. His contributions are ingrained within the game’s database.
“I discovered at the age of 14 that I had a passion for coding tools that others could use for creative purposes,” says Ayo. “I was entrusted with crafting code that plays an integral role in the Sims 4 gaming experience. My experience at Electronic Arts has brought my dreams to life.”
Ayo is committed to sharing the opportunities he has been given with members of his network, particularly those underrepresented in the world of technology.
“I am thankful for internship positions and other leadership positions I have on-campus because it has given me the opportunity to not just let opportunities stop at me. I get to expand that to everyone around me.”
On campus, Ayo serves as the Logistics Lead for TAMUhack, an on-campus organization dedicated to fostering innovation and collaboration through hackathons. Leveraging his internship position at Electronic Arts and the relationships he has built there, Ayo brought Electronic Arts to Texas A&M University to sponsor an event. This initiative not only provided students with exposure to industry leaders but also created a platform for them to showcase their talents and skills.
