EY Offers Career Coaching to Vet Scholars
Since the inception of the career coaching component of the Posse Career Program in 2014, Posse Scholars and alumni have benefited from one-on-one support from industry-leading professionals at many of Posse’s 175 corporate partners.
At EY (formerly Ernst & Young), six leading consultants and finance professionals have volunteered to work with Posse Veterans Scholars from Vassar College, Wesleyan University and Dartmouth College. The EY coaches have already positively influenced these veteran Scholars. Moreover, several of the coaches are themselves veterans and appreciate the opportunity to give back to the community.
Joe McHugh, executive director of advisory services at EY and the leader of EY’s Veterans Network, has played a critical role in recruiting veteran employees at the company to participate in the career coaching program. He also serves as a coach himself.
In addition to providing career coaches, the company hosted the Posse Veterans Program’s fifth annual Awards Ceremony last January at EY’s New York City Headquarters. The event was made possible by Gerry Dixon, managing partner at EY and a member of the Posse New York Advisory Board.
At the ceremony, three new Posses were formally awarded their scholarships to attend Vassar, Wesleyan and Dartmouth. The celebration brought together families, friends, college and university representatives, Posse staff and other supporters including EY military veterans.
This past July, the partnership came full-circle as EY hosted some of the same newly-awarded Scholars for a Career Day event. Scholars had the opportunity to meet members of EY’s Veterans Network as well as a Posse alumna who works at EY. The day included resume-building workshops and mock interviews, as Scholars received invaluable insight into the consulting and financial services industries.
Through the ongoing partnership with EY, Scholars and alumni continue to receive professional advice and guidance. Such support facilitates growth as the veterans transition from leading on campus to leading in the workforce.
