Hamilton Alumnus Receives Fulbright Fellowship
Posse Miami alumnus Gabe Rivas, a recent graduate of Hamilton College, was awarded a prestigious Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) in Germany. This fall, he will begin teaching English in a German classroom.
Gabe fell in love with Germany when he studied abroad during his junior year. One of the highlights of his experience was volunteering for a program that taught English and introduced German students to American culture. He pursued the Fulbright ETA opportunity in the hope of returning after earning his undergraduate degree.
"In the future, I plan to pursue graduate studies in industrial design,” says Gabe. “But now I am happy to have the opportunity to teach and help others through the Fulbright fellowship.”
A student of industrial design since high school, Gabe created his own curriculum and major—design, history and culture—at Hamilton. That creativity, leadership and resourcefulness will undoubtedly help him teach and connect with his German students this year.
