Henry Ellenbogen Becomes New Board Chair, Brad Singer Ends Successful Term
Henry Ellenbogen, the managing partner and chief investment officer of Durable Capital Partners, has become the new chairman of The Posse Foundation’s national board of directors. Henry succeeds longtime board member Brad Singer, who concluded his fifth year of an extraordinary tenure this past April.
"Henry will be an unbelievably great chair and partner to Debbie,” says Brad. “He is a thoughtful and gracious leader and has been an incredibly effective member of the board."
“It’s an honor to chair the Posse Board and to support our Scholars and the development of this remarkable leadership network,” says Henry. “In a world with so much tension and uncertainty, Posse Scholars remind us of the quality of young leaders in America and give me hope for the future of our country.”

Brad, a recently retired partner of Value Act Capital, joined the Posse Boston Advisory Board in 2006 and the national board in 2008. A gift from Brad to his alma mater, the University of Virginia, supported the institution adopting the program in 2013. He later funded the school’s expansion to recruit post-9/11 U.S. veterans through the Posse Veterans Program.
In 2017, Brad was elected board chair. Under his leadership, Posse established 25 new college and university partnerships, launched new Arts and Virtual programs that more than doubled the number of recruitment cities, and significantly grew the Posse Board; approximately 40 percent of current board members joined during Brad’s tenure. A testament to his remarkable generosity, Brad has given more than $10 million over the years to support the program and Posse Scholars.
“We are so grateful to Brad for his insightful leadership and incredible generosity as board chair,” says Posse President and Founder Deborah Bial. “His stewardship during his term—which included extraordinarily challenging years for our nation—has strengthened the organization and greatly expanded our capacity to serve more students each year.”
Henry has been a member of the Posse National Board of Directors since 2017. He graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in history and science from Harvard College. He holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar.
“I can think of no better successor than Henry,” says Deborah. “He brings a level of expertise and a passion for Posse that make him ideal for the role. I look forward to working with him to advance Posse’s mission in the years ahead.”
