Hundreds of Posse Alumni to Convene at Annual Alumni Conference
Posse alumni from across the nation will gather at the 9th annual National Posse Alumni Leadership Conference on Saturday, July 29, 2017 in New York City.
This year’s keynote speaker is Mark Stephan, a quadriplegic who will share his extraordinary story of experiencing a life-threatening bicycle accident and turning tragedy into an opportunity to raise awareness and funds to help others with spinal cord injuries. "Mark's story is incredible and moving. He is the kind of person we all aspire to be. He will remind us of how we can push through adversity and see life as a challenge and an opportunity," shares Deborah Bial, president and founder of The Posse Foundation.
New to the program this year will be KooshTalks, a series of dynamic 5- to 6-minute talks by Posse alumni who are tackling complex social problems and making a difference in the world. Posse alumni will present their ideas focused on one of several themes, including economic inequality, immigration, racism, and sexism. Alumni from across the country submitted applications to present; speakers will be announced in advance of the conference.
On Friday evening, before Saturday’s full day of events, Posse will host a Pre-Conference Graduate Affiliate Workshop, available exclusively for alumni who are considering graduate school applications. Representatives from several of Posse's graduate school affiliates will be in attendance. Space is limited and spots will be reserved on a first-come first-served basis.
Other signature components of the conference include the presentation of the Ainslie Alumni Achievement Award, career and graduate school breakouts, along with a session recognizing Posses that have reached 100% representation on the Alumni Directory.
Posse also invites the following DAP years to celebrate alumni milestones at the event:
- DAP 2012, Class of 2017 (5-year member)
- DAP 2007, Class of 2012 (10-year member)
