Local Philanthropist Joins D.C. Advisory Board
Posse D.C. is thrilled to welcome Brenda L. Moore as the newest member of its local advisory board. Brenda, a retired professional nurse and passionate philanthropist, formed the Mark & Brenda Moore and Family Foundation with her husband of 30 years, Mark C. Moore. Brenda has been a dedicated Posse D.C. volunteer and the couple’s longstanding commitment to Posse has provided critical program support.
Brenda’s family foundation is centered on the idea of “establishing roots and stretching wings.” This philosophy, which stresses the importance of maintaining a connection to your home community while exploring new experiences, echoes the values Posse works to instill in its Scholars.
“The Posse Foundation orchestrates a successful formula,” says Brenda. “I am honored to have been selected as a member of the D.C. Advisory Board. This group of compassionate professionals and community leaders is a driving force behind Posse's advancement in our region.”
In addition to the Posse D.C. Advisory Board, Brenda currently sits on the Health Foundation Board and the Patient Experience Advisory Committee for INOVA Health System. She and her husband are founding donors for the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, scheduled to open in 2015. They are also members of The Director’s Circle for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and Brenda is a patron supporter for Hopkins House Early Childhood Learning Center in Alexandria, Virginia.
