Next 10,000 Event Celebrates Posse Boston, Raises $300K

This past October, nearly 100 Boston-area supporters and alumni gathered to celebrate Posse Boston at its first in-person event since January 2020. The evening raised more than $300,000 for Posse Boston, including support from the generous sponsors listed below.

In a highlight of the evening, Posse alumna Dr. Sarah Martinez Roth delivered a speech on the important role her Posse journey has played in her current success.

“This is the potential that Posse saw in me when I didn’t even believe in myself.”

“I am a student who would have been overlooked by the traditional college admissions process,” Sarah said in her remarks at the event. “I grew up in a bilingual family that mostly spoke Spanglish, and my standardized test scores were just okay. My grades were pretty good… [but] I had a lot more to offer than what could fit on an application. Luckily, Posse didn’t overlook me. Their dynamic assessment process evaluates students like me beyond test scores.”

The Posse Foundation was founded to identify students’ potential to excel at top-tier colleges, to become the kind of leaders the workforce needs. After she was selected to become a Posse Scholar at Colby College, Sarah graduated with honors in biology and minors in chemistry, theatre and dance.

“Today, I stand here proudly as the granddaughter of immigrants, a doctoral graduate from Georgetown University, a recipient of a National Institute of Health Doctoral award, and a current postdoctoral scientist at Sanofi,” Sarah’s remarks concluded. “This is the potential that Posse saw in me when I didn’t even believe in myself. This is the real investment you make when you support Posse.”
