Notre Dame Scholar Interns at PwC

Fall 2024 | New Orleans

PwC is widely recognized as one of the largest professional services networks in the world. This past summer, University of Notre Dame Scholar Yarely Rubio Gonzalez interned at the big four accounting firm, gaining invaluable experience that has strengthened her desire to become a professional in the field.

“PwC offered me a highly sought-after opportunity to understand how professional service firms work and what it takes to be a leader within one at the highest levels.”

Posse and Notre Dame helped train me for the professional world.

The internship not only allowed her to understand what a career as a public accountant entails, but also encouraged her to continue improving her business skills. In practice, she was challenged to write business reports, work in different computer programs, engage in independent and team projects with presentation components, work with a pro bono client, network with peers and superiors, and connect with managers and partners at the firm as mentors.

“Posse and Notre Dame helped train me for the professional world,” Yarely says. “Through my college experience I have learned how best to professionally and socially engage with other changemakers.”

Currently a student at Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, Yarely is majoring in accountancy with a minor in business & the common good. This fall semester, she is studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, with a focus on sustainability in food production and consumption.

On campus, Yarely engages with the Institute for Social Concerns through her minor in poverty studies and as a recipient of the McNeill Common Good Fellowship. Through the fellowship, she academically and experientially explores social justice issues on both local and broader scales.

Additionally, her passion for writing is expressed through her role as a peer tutor at The Writing Center. Outside of academics, Yarely enjoys volunteering with local South Bend organizations and serving at the Basilica.

“My Posse has helped keep me grounded and focused on my goals while also giving me a social outlet. I am so grateful to have them on campus.”

Vice Chair, US Power, Utilities and Renewables Leader at Deloitte & Touche LLP and Posse New Orleans Advisory Board Member Tom Keefe serves as Yarely’s career coach. He remarked:

“I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know Yarely. We share many connections—she’s at Notre Dame, studying accounting, and now spending a semester in Copenhagen. From everything I’ve heard, it sounds like she’s made the most of that experience. I’m excited to see where her drive, curiosity, and commitment to excellence take her next.”
