Posse Atlanta Power of 10 Event Raises Over $300K

Winter 2019 | Atlanta

Posse Atlanta held its 2018 Power of 10 fundraising event last October at the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta. Once again, the generosity of metro Atlanta’s business and philanthropic communities was on full display and helped raise over $312,000—the most ever generated by the annual event.

The evening honored the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club for its commitment to youth and education in metro Atlanta. Steve Koonin, CEO of the Atlanta Hawks, accepted the award. In collaboration with amazing partners, the Hawks Foundation and Posse Atlanta are uniquely positioned to create and expand opportunities for the next generation to lead our community, the state, and the nation.

Guests also heard testimonies about Posse’s impact from two Atlanta alumni, Syracuse University’s Dulce Gallo Blanco and Texas A&M graduate Joshua Lewis. Both share a passion for public service.

Dulce, a first-generation college student, double-majored in policy studies and political science with a focus on education equity. Dulce currently works as a high school education specialist for the Agape Youth and Family Center. After working in education for a few years, she plans to attend law school and ultimately work in educational policy.

Joshua majored in philosophy at Texas A&M. As a student, he interned with Congressman John Lewis, focusing on Medicare and Medicaid quality payment methods and health disparities. Joshua is now a legislative associate and registered lobbyist with the Health and Medicaid Counsel of Washington and is considering graduate studies in public health.
