Annual Power of 10 Event Raises Close to $400K

Winter 2024 | Boston

Last October, Posse Boston hosted its annual Power of 10 fundraiser at the iconic State Room. The “Posse Love” was palpable as over 200 corporate and community partners, supporters, and alumni gathered to celebrate Posse Boston. Thanks to the generosity of committed supporters, company sponsorships and the alumni community, the evening brought in $397,000 in donations.

This was especially memorable as Posse Boston dedicated this year’s Power of 10 to their strong and growing alumni community. Of over 13,000 Posse alumni in the network, 800 Posse alum now reside in the Boston metro area.

The genius of the Posse program is in understanding the critical role that community plays in a student’s success. My Posse played that role for me.

“Posse alumni are leading in this city,” says Posse Boston Director Sakeenah Chapman. “They work at City Hall and Boston Public Schools and leading nonprofits. They are lawyers at big firms, physicians and financial executives. Our Alumni are changing the face of leadership and influencing change in this city.”

Annie Seibold Drapeau, Chief People Officer at Toast Inc. and Posse Boston Board Chair, shared how important community and corporate partners are to the Posse mission.

“Power of 10 is such an important night for the Posse community to gather together and celebrate the accomplishments of our Scholars and alumni, while raising necessary funds to support the Posse program,” said Annie.

The event featured alumni honoree speaker Taylor Barnes. After graduating Centre College, Taylor went on to work for Posse Boston as a trainer, supporting Posse Scholars. While pursuing a graduate degree from Brandeis University, Taylor served on Posse Boston’s Alumni Council and led Brandeis University Office of Undergraduate Admissions’ diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Currently, Taylor serves as Chief of Staff at Toast Inc, one of Posse Boston’s long-term career partners.

Taylor shared the story of his journey as a Scholar, former staff member and alum. One aspect of his Posse experience stood out as especially significant:

“The genius of the Posse program is in understanding the critical role that community—the feeling that you belong and that there are people who have your back—the critical role that plays in a student’s success. My Posse played that role for me.”

Posse Boston gives special thanks to event leaders National Grid, Raytheon, TJX Companies, and Toast Inc., and the other sponsors and partners who contributed greatly to the evening’s success.
