Posse Boston Welcomes Newest Class of Scholars

Posse Boston celebrated its newest class of future leaders on January 5th at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. The evening was filled with excitement as more than 200 family members, educators, alumni, and institutional partners gathered to celebrate the 51 new Scholars.

This year Posse Boston Scholars earned over $10 million in full-tuition scholarships from five of the nation’s distinguished colleges and universities: Bryn Mawr College, Bucknell University, Centre College, Union College, and Rutgers University.

Posse Boston Director and Denison University Posse alumna Sakeenah Chapman welcomed the new Scholars to the community with uplifting words. Annie Drapeau, the Chair of the Posse Boston Advisory Board and Chief People Officer at Toast, also addressed the class.

“You were chosen because you are all leaders in your schools, your communities, and families. You are dynamic. You are the innovative thinkers of the future!"

“You will grow from being leaders on campus to becoming leaders in our workforce," said Annie. "We are proud of all that you have already accomplished and cannot wait to see what amazing things the future holds for you.”

Denison University Posse alum Elvis Guerrero Dejesus gave the keynote address.

“You were chosen because you are all leaders in your schools, your communities, and families,” he said. You are dynamic. You are the innovative thinkers of the future!”

Each Scholar was recognized by their respective schools’ representatives during the ceremony. The newly selected Scholars also shared their thanks and excitement.
