Posse D.C. Welcomes CNN’s Joe Johns and Corporate Leaders

This past May, Posse D.C. held a corporate breakfast featuring CNN senior Washington correspondent Joe Johns. More than 50 guests engaged in a thought-provoking discussion on the impact of the media and politics on America’s diverse youth.

Mr. Johns discussed his personal background and a career trajectory that has led him to covering national political stories including breaking news from The White House.

The event was moderated by former Posse D.C. Advisory Board member Frank Sesno, who is the director of the School of Media and Public Affairs at The George Washington University.

“When leadership and diversity meet each other at the highest levels, the result is excellence,” Frank said. “I believe when our nation is at its best, we are striving to make it a better place for today’s young people. Today’s discussion is meant to touch on how we accomplish that in the current climate. Posse is the perfect organization to host the conversation because our Scholars wrestle with important issues every day.”

The event was held specifically for corporate leaders in the D.C. region and included representatives from Accenture, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Deloitte, Kirkland & Ellis LLP, MedStar Health, Pepco Holdings, PNC Bank, PwC, Skanska, TD Bank and Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.

Posse alumni were also active in the conversation. Grinnell alumna Opeyemi “Ope” Awe, who currently works as a federal analyst at Deloitte, spoke about the importance of fostering conversations between people with opposing views.
