Posse D.C. Welcomes Newest Class of Scholars
Posse D.C. was thrilled to welcome 62 new Scholars at the 2022 Awards Ceremony, held this past January. The impressive group of young leaders has been awarded $13.1 million in full-tuition scholarships from Posse D.C.’s six partner colleges and universities: Bucknell University, Lafayette College, Lewis & Clark College, Sewanee: The University of the South, University of Rochester and University of Wisconsin-Madison.
More than 400 family members, friends, educators and other members of the D.C. community joined the virtual event to celebrate the newest Posse class. The incoming Scholars were selected from a competitive pool of nearly 1,500 D.C. metro-area nominees.
400+ family members, friends, educators and other members of the D.C. community joined the 2022 Awards Ceremony.
The virtual nature of this year’s Awards Ceremony incorporated heartfelt celebration from new Scholars and their loved ones, including balloons, school colors and handmade decorations proudly displayed in participants’ Zoom frames. Following welcome speeches from each partner institution’s representatives, Scholars and guests shared messages of congratulations and thanks to those that helped them along the way.
The Awards Ceremony serves as an annual induction for new Scholars joining Posse’s network of more than 10,000 future leaders. This spring, Scholars have begun eight months of Pre-Collegiate Training, building community and preparing for their arrival on campus.
In the fall, the new Scholars will join their peers at Posse D.C. partner institutions. They will follow the path of the comprehensive Posse Program, which maintains an impressive 90 percent graduation rate.
Special thanks to Posse D.C. Awards Ceremony Sponsors: Finsbury Glover Hering, Mayer Brown and Skanska; and to Deloitte, The Posse Foundation’s National Premier Sponsor.
