Posse Miami Welcomes New Board Members

Spring 2024 | Miami

In 2023, Posse Miami welcomed two new members to its Advisory Board: Angie Christie, the US-Central Region Vice Chair at Ernst & Young (EY), and Michael Freedland, a founding partner of Freedland Harwin Valori Gander. Both join a board deeply committed to supporting the program in its efforts to develop diverse talent from South Florida.

Posse’s mission and model resonate deeply with Angie, who credits her own "posse" for her success. As a Miami native, she looks forward to giving back to the community that shaped her.

“I am passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion, about providing opportunities for our people to reach their potential, and building inclusive teams that are inspired to serve our clients with distinction,” Angie says.

It is a tremendous honor to be part of an organization dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders.

Her appointment further underscores EY’s commitment to fostering inclusive communities and supporting initiatives that promote equitable opportunities for all.

“It is a tremendous honor to be part of an organization dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders through the power of education, inclusion, and community.”

Also a Miami native, Michael is a seasoned legal practitioner with over two decades of experience in South Florida. As a founding partner of Freedland Harwin Valori Gander, his expertise in law and his commitment to community engagement make him a valuable addition to the board.

Currently living in Broward County, Michael is dedicated to providing access to high-quality post-secondary education for young people across the region. He is a member and former president of the Weston Rotary Club, where he oversees its scholarship program. In addition, Michael’s firm helms the Weston Rotary Golf Classic, the proceeds of which provide scholarships for students in the Weston area.

Michael first encountered Posse Scholars in his post at the Weston Rotary Club and was impressed by the ways the program enabled students to attend top schools that they might not otherwise be able to attend. The power of community support in ensuring success in college and beyond resonates deeply with him.

“Once you really understand what Posse does, the impact is clear,” says Michael. “I can relate to these students. The support from my family allowed me to go to law school. These Scholars will realize their leadership potential in part thanks to Posse.”
