Posse New York Celebrates Leadership at 3rd Annual Power of 10 Event

Winter 2013 | New York

In October, overlooking the brilliant lights of Times Square, Posse New York celebrated equity and leadership in higher education and the workforce at its third annual Power of 10 fundraiser, hosted by Viacom Media Networks.

Equally brilliant were three alumni—Gloris Estrella (DePauw Posse 9), and Mason Richards and Kito Huggins (both of Vanderbilt Posse 3)—who spoke about the profound impact Posse has on a Scholar’s college experience, family, community and professional world.

“Posse is building the next generation of leaders, and these leaders have to make diversity and inclusion a priority in this global workforce,” Kito said. “This is why Posse is so important, why it is so needed … Scholars receive the training and have the ability to be great leaders who create environments of flexibility and inclusion at top companies and organizations.”

Additional highlights of the evening included a welcome by New York Advisory Board member Richard Gay and remarks by Board Chair Henry Phillips.

“Posse Scholars have a 90 percent graduation rate, and by the year 2020 there will be 6,000 Posse alumni in the network,” Henry said. “The Posse Foundation is making an impact in terms of college access and helping diverse groups of students realize their full potential as leaders—leaders who will help change the world.”

Posse New York is grateful to event sponsors Deloitte LLP, Kirkland & Ellis LLP and Viacom for making the evening possible and to advisory board members and attendees for making this year’s Power of 10 a success.
