Posse Partners Select Inaugural Class of Houston Scholars
Posse Houston, the ninth and newest chapter of The Posse Foundation, is off to an amazing start thanks to a positive reception from students, schools and supporters from the local community. Over 550 promising young leaders from the Houston Independent School District (HISD) were nominated for a chance at one of 30 four-year, full-tuition scholarships to Posse Houston’s college and university partners—Bryn Mawr College, Texas A&M University and The University of Texas at Austin.
“Houston has given us such a warm reception—from the volunteer support to the incredible number of student nominations,” says Posse Houston Director Kamari J. Brewer. “We are ecstatic to be a part of Posse’s growth and to see the impact of the program on Houston students.”
Posse Houston thanks its supporters, the many principals, teachers and guidance counselors from HISD and community-based organizations who nominated students this year, and its college and university partners who provide these prestigious awards.
Posse Houston would also like to thank its dedicated advisory board members–Dan Pickering of Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co.; Carol Wood of King & Spaulding; Scott McClelland of H-E-B; James Baker of Simmons & Company International; Forrest Wylie of Wylie Ventures; and Matt Schatzman of BG Group.
