Posse Scholar Examines Inequality Through Campus TV Series
University of Notre Dame Posse Scholar Durrell Jackson is co-producing an on-campus web series that aims to take on privilege and inequality. He’s also gaining a valuable jumpstart on plans to pursue a career in film production.
The second season of Dome-ish, a YouTube-based series conceived as a combination of Black-ish and Saturday Night Live, showcases diversity and identity issues at the University of Notre Dame and in the world.
“I think it’s important to be able to tell stories like this.”
Durrell, a film, theater and television major in his third year on campus, worked on the series in its first season. He is now overseeing the production for season two.
“We are focusing on raising production values and making the focus of the show more serial this year,” Durrell says. “I really want to develop a plot and give more weight to characters over the course of the season. I want this season to be more cinematic.”
The show’s new season debuted with a campus premier in October. New episodes will be released approximately once a month on the Dome-ish YouTube channel.
Durrell hopes working as his own executive producer will complement his previous experience in film production as he prepares for a future in entertainment.
“I think it’s important to be able to tell stories like this,” Durrell says. “This is an important medium to have voices like mine heard.”
