Texas A&M Scholar Excels On Campus

Spring 2024 | New Orleans

Amiri Harding, a member of Texas A&M’s first Posse New Orleans cohort, is forging a remarkable path on the pre-law track, majoring in society, ethics and law with minors in philosophy and French. Intent on making a difference in the lives of young people, Amiri hopes to pursue a career in family law and related legal fields.

As part of the inaugural Posse at Texas A&M, Amiri and her peers formed an exceptionally close bond, creating a supportive and cohesive community. She seeks to extend this sense of comradery to the incoming Texas A&M Posse, ensuring the new cohort has access to resources, needed supports and insider perspectives to help them succeed. Amiri recently participated in Academic Immersion Day, sharing her experiences with the second New Orleans cohort. She and other members of her Posse plan to join Posse’s Pre Collegiate Training sessions for new Scholars to help prepare them to make the most of their undergraduate experience.

Reflecting on her journey, Amiri says, “Although coming to college in a different state was challenging, TAMU was the best choice I could have made. Not only did my Posse make my experience better, but Texas A&M made it amazing too. The campus has numerous resources, and the hospitality is through the roof. I am proud to be an Aggie and participate in all the countless traditions and activities. Thanks & Gig’em!”

Amiri, along with her fellow Posse peers, has fully embraced Texas A&M’s rich campus traditions like attending football games and participating in the spirit chants know to the campus community as "yells". Her love for music has led her to join the university orchestra, where she plays the violin. Despite the absence of a music major at TAMU, the orchestra boasts around 200 musically inclined students, like Amiri, from various fields.

Adrienne Bentz, Amiri’s mentor, praises her exceptional performance. "Amiri, in her first year at Texas A&M, was laser-focused and determined to achieve, turning every challenge into an opportunity to excel—as is evidenced by her making the Dean’s List in the College of Arts and Sciences."

Amiri’s journey at Texas A&M is marked by her academic dedication, passion for law, and musical talent. Her efforts to support fellow Posse members and engage in campus traditions illustrate her leadership and commitment to the community. We celebrate Amiri’s pioneering achievements and look forward to her continued success.
