Trinity Alumna Heads to the White House
Trinity College Posse alumna Karla Mardueno spent her first summer as a college graduate interning at the White House for the Office of the First Lady.
Karla, who graduated with a degree in public policy and law in 2015, managed scheduling for the First Lady’s office and also had the opportunity to attend a variety of speaker series through the Vice President’s office.
She was well prepared for the White House thanks to campus leadership experience with Habitat for Humanity, La Voz Latina and the Men of Color Alliance. In addition, Karla previously interned as a project assistant for Kirkland & Ellis and took law classes through Legal Trek at Northwestern University—both opportunities were offered through the Posse Career Program.
“Being a Posse Scholar means that I am never alone; my Posse is thousands of incredible people,” says Karla. “I can attribute every single one of my accomplishments—big or small—to either the support of a Posse Scholar or Posse staff member.”
Karla currently is working at Kirkland & Ellis. She plans to attend law school with the hopes of one day becoming a federal judge.
