UW-Madison Alumna Selected as Presidential Management Fellow

Avery Jackson, a University of Wisconsin-Madison Posse alumna, was selected as a Presidential Management Fellow. The prestigious two-year government fellowship, open only to those with advanced degrees and outstanding leadership abilities, was created more than three decades ago by Executive Order to develop a cadre of potential government leaders.

As a fellow, Avery is currently working at the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C. where she is creating policies for a home equity and mortgage program for senior citizens.

“Consumers have a lot of power in the market and we don’t always use that power,” says Avery, who holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in consumer behavior and family economics from UW-Madison. “I want to be in a position of leadership that provides the knowledge for individuals to act in their best interests.”

Avery credits her Posse with constantly pushing her to do more and be the best version of herself. As an alumna, she continues to see the benefits of the program.

“Even here in Washington, D.C., I have this amazing network thanks to Posse,” Avery says.
