Willett Advisors CIO Joins National Board
Andrew Mulderry is the Chief Investment Officer of leading investment firm Willett Advisors and the newest member of Posse’s National Board of Directors.
Willett manages the philanthropic assets of Michael R. Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies and 108th mayor of New York City. Bloomberg Philanthropies "works to ensure better, longer lives for the greatest number of people by focusing on five key areas: the arts, education, the environment, government innovation, and public health." Andrew’s personal mission follows a similar theme.
By providing access to top tier education and training Scholars to be leaders, Posse is making a difference in communities across the country and the globe.
“My work is at the intersection of investments and philanthropy. Having the ability to work on investments where I know the fruits of those labors are supporting worthwhile causes is what makes me love my job,” says Andrew. “I feel similarly lucky to support an organization as impact driven as Posse.”
Andrew was introduced to Posse by board member Josh Paulson, a founding partner at the investment management firm P2 Capital Partners. Josh invited Andrew and his wife to a Posse Awards Ceremony celebrating the newest class of Scholars in New York City. The event, which included moving testimonials from students’ family members, inspired Andrew to get involved.
“The Posse Awards Ceremony was a very clear illustration of an organization that creates a bridge to opportunity that would otherwise not exist for students who are incredibly deserving,” Andrew says. “The visceral emotion from the families at the event – elation, joy, pride — was not only moving, but demonstrated the need for the organization. And then you look at the success metrics.”
Andrew’s passions for philanthropy and education access advocacy are inspired by the memory of his late brother Stephen, who was passionate about volunteering. After he passed, Andrew started a memorial fund to support educational and recreational opportunities for young people in his brother’s honor.
Great leadership requires differing and even conflicting perspectives. Posse Scholars embody that value.
The endeavor strengthened his dedication to philanthropy and reinforced his appreciation for mission-driven organizations like Posse.
“Connecting people to education is something I am passionate about, but the success of the program speaks for itself,” says Andrew. “By providing access to top tier education and training Scholars to be leaders, Posse is making a difference in communities across the country and the globe.”
Since becoming a member of Posse’s board, Andrew has hired and worked with several Posse Scholar interns.
“Meeting these young people has made me more passionate to the Posse cause. Their maturity and the value of their contributions is astounding,” says Andrew. “Great leadership requires differing and even conflicting perspectives. Posse Scholars embody that value.”
