Winter Career Day Connects Boston Scholars with Premier Opportunities

Spring 2023 | Boston

This past December, longstanding Posse Career Program partner State Street Corporation hosted the annual Winter Career Day at the Channel Center Building in Boston’s Fort Point neighborhood. More than 40 Scholars joined representatives from Posse Boston’s 33 partner companies and organizations for a day of career-focused activities.

The event included a networking session, mock practice interviews, and a fireside chat with Sharhea Wade, State Street’s vice president of global inclusion and diversity and a Bryn Mawr Posse alum. Posse Boston Director Sakeenah Chapman facilitated the conversation, which focused on Sharhea’s career trajectory and views on diversity and college access.

Offering advice to the Scholars in attendance, Sharhea said, “Take the opportunities you have now to develop your interests and passions, because this moment in your lives will not come back again.”

Afterwards, Scholars and career partner representatives kicked off the networking session with a fast-paced Posse ice-breaker called “Macro Lab.” In rotating pairs, participants took turns quickly answering a series of probing, thought-provoking questions. The exercise is designed to help establish a sense of community, allowing attendees to connect with many different people in a short amount of time.

"It was truly amazing to meet such remarkable people in a single space. I connected with so many career partners and Scholars from other schools," says Centre College Scholar Geovanna de Andrade. "I felt inspired and motivated to work even harder."

Posse Boston thanks all of the career partners who helped to make the event a huge success.
