Winter Career Day Hosted by Kirkland & Ellis
On January 4, Posse Chicago held its annual Winter Career Day with a full program of career development workshops, mock interviews and a Career Fair in which close to 30 Posse Career Program partners participated. Kirkland & Ellis, a Posse partner for the past three years, generously hosted the event.
“The event was a great way to expose Scholars to different industries that Posse partners with and to help Scholars focus on their personal brand,” says Miles Warren, a Posse Career Program manager.
In addition to the opportunity to network and interview with prospective employers, Scholars participated in workshops on career mapping that offered tips on setting short- and long-term goals as well as utilizing mentors and advisors. Another popular workshop focused on aligning career interests with lifestyle choices and included tips on basic budgeting and financial planning.
“I learned that I should consider broadening my internship experiences to see if I could find passion in a career that will help me feel more secure with my finances,” says Scholar Sandy Tran (DePauw Posse 10).
Posse Career Program partners also found great value in participating in the event.
“Winter Career Day provided a great opportunity to meet future leaders,” says Jenna Walker, senior portfolio analyst at Neuberger Berman.
This successful event also resulted in interview opportunities and job offers for several Posse Scholars.
“Posse Career Program partners are gaining access to a pool of incredibly talented young leaders,” says Aprill Hawkins, a Posse Career Program manager. “Posse is proud to connect industry-leading companies to a great pipeline of talent.”
